Nice finds. Another place I've found unexpected gold and silver are the metal rings on old tobacco pipes.

Don't know if I said anything about the nibs of gold, but I do rate the quantity of a pen by how it's constructed and who made them. These ones you picked up will definitely bring a profit.

Ahh...thought it was you. Definitely bought for quality of pens and not to scrap gold. I think I'm going to keep one.

One time I was digging around under a massive fallen tree in the roots. Ended up finding an old fountain pen. It was mostly rotten except for the 14k gold nib.

Picked these 4 pens up for $10. 3 are fountain pens and have 14k tips. I think it was Tamrock who mention to look for pens and tips. Thanks!

Big fountain pen collecter here. Do not under any circumstances pull the nibs to melt! Depending on the make and model of the pen someone can realize much more profit selling the pen as-is. Keep the boxes, of course...and nice find, insanely jealous.
