Hello,

Been bored the last couple of weeks so got my wheat pennies out to see if there was anything I might need to put up. Found a nice blank in the box and can't remember where I got it from. Have been adding to the box since the 60's so could have got it anytime in between then and now.

Is there a lot of these out there are is this something I might want to put up with my better ones.

Thanks Jim

By blank, do you mean same size, just completely smooth? That's called a slug, it isn't worth anything.

Hello,

Yes smooth on both sides. Thanks for the information. Think I will put in a 2X2 anyway for a conversation piece.

I've gotten 4 or 5 of them from bank bags of cents the past couple of years. They have a rim, just never got struck by the die.

I've also seen a couple where the portrait had been planed off, leaving a smooth surface.

Those are called blank planchets and are listed in the back of the red book along with other types of errors.
