I miss the old days....even soda bottles looked cooler than they do today.

I can't believe this. I found a bottle identical to that about a week ago. I was hiking into the woods at the time and stashed it by a tree under some leaves. I forgot to pick it up on the way out. Seems like I hid it a little too well.

Went back last night and can't seem to remember which tree I stashed it by. They all look alike. Only have about 1 or two thousand to pick from so I should be able to narrow it down in a few months.

That's a really nice find. Looks like the 50's I believe. They're hard to find with good labels after being outside for all those years.

Yup.

I got my hands on a few bottles of Coke from Mexico last summer. They still use cane sugar down there too, instead of that poisonous high fructose corn syrup they use here.

I waited for a really hot day and put two in the freezer for a little while. Once they were ice cold I grabbed them and told my son to follow me outside. I pulled the bottle opener from my pocket and opened them up and gave him one. I explained that this is how it USED to be when I was a kid.

He loved it. It also brought back lots of great memories for me.

Glass is SO much better than plastic or aluminum, especially when it's really hot out. It just tastes better.

I still collect old bottles. The pepsi-cola bottles showing red, white, and blue were harder to find. Before I started metal detecting I used to dig farm dumps. Sometimes that was quite rewarding.

Yeah, I also got into metal detecting after many, many hours of walking creeks (and picking up THOUSANDS of rocks) in search or Native relics and digging old bottle dumps.

The metal detecting gives you satisfaction much quicker IMO.
I still love those old bottles and relics though.

Native relics are almost non existent where I live. In one entire summer I found one hand ax and what was left of a quartzite projectile point. Everything is underground for the most part.
