I spent nearly two hours today driving around the outskirts of Ottawa trying to contact property owners to get permission to hunt. It seems like farmers are more elusive than any silver coin. Each house I tried was either empty or not the property owner for the field I was interested in. I did manage to track down one farmer but I hadn't finished one sentence before he started shaking his head. "Indian artifact eh?...." he mumbled. I wanted to correct him and plead my case but he had a bunch of farm hands around and looked really busy so I went on my way.
So many abandoned farm sites. So hard to get permission...

SIGH

At least I didn't come home with nothing in my pouch. $1.65 is better than squat.
