Just finding anything pewter that doesnt flake to pieces on me would be an accomplishment. I would love to have that coin button

Maybe made in response to the Spanish nationalist coin buttons you see more frequently? Those were more in fashion later though? That's wild. Cool find!

With all the cast counterfeit halfpennies during the reign of George II it seems like it would make sense the odd person would create a button from one of the molds. If it was George III it would be more odd of a find.

Coin buttons are not that uncommon & are made from Roman Coins to Spanish etc. They also made many faux versions as well, ie copying a coin type like this one. I have seen many famous figures heads on cuff-links including pewter types (I have 1) but not seen a Geo I Button. It could be just that or the odds are its 1 half of a cufflink.Clearly 18th C in Date.
It needs preserving or it will turn to dust.

Don't believe it's a cufflink because it's about the size of a farthing. It will be preserved and thank you for the info
