Hand held electronic pinpointers such as Whites Bullseyes are not meant to be stuck in the ground as you would use a probe. I don't know of a company that makes what it sounds like you're looking for.

I just got my Bullseye 2 and I like the light feature, it helps a little. As far as probing with it, I don't think so.... Its saved me quite a bit of time so far, I don't know how I got along without one all those years.

Re: PIN POINTERS & PROBES

I have a Sunray on my GTI 2500. It is actually a minicoil. You could probably stick it in loose dry sand but regular soil would probably break it or you couldn't penetrate the ground it as it has a blunt point. Also very expensive. What I would like to see is for some electronic whiz kid to come up with a sharp pointed probe made of brass or some softer metal so it wouldn't scratch a valuable coin or artifact. I am visualizing one that when it touches a conductive metal it will complete an electronic circuit or form a ground sufficient to light up, buzz or vibrate. I think it could be done fairly inexpensively but to me electricity is still magic! I don't understand enough about its properties to invent something like that. If anyone can, just send me a free one for thinking of it. Monty
