I bought a bounty hunter (new) last summer and it only had a depth of 1/2" so it sat in the van, I could find the coins better without it. I then got a Garrett pro-pointer when I bought a used detector. It is great. The wife know; what's on my xmas list. The Garrett Carot. If money is tight, the lowest I'd go is $89 and get the Deteknix X-Pointer. I believe if you go with anything cheaper will not satisfied.

I'm still using the original Pro-Pointer.

Never gave me a single problem for 3+ years, it just recently started acting a bit wonky.

I see a phone call to Bart for a Pro-Pointer AT in my near future... and a can of krylon from the hardware store.

Orange only, really?

~Tejaas~

Ever drop a black pinpointer in the wood at dusk? Black is very hard to see and blends in with the foliage. I now put a big strip of hot pink duct tape on it if I plan on detecting in the woods. I am looking forward to getting the "orange" Garrett Carot from Santa.

I received a Nokta pointer for a gift. Works well for me, but I think for next year, I'm going to purchase a Garrett Pro Pointer. Seems to be the most popular.

Just wondering, what would be the best place to purchase a Garrett Carrot from? I keep reading about fakes getting sold and want to make sure I buy from a reputable place.

why would you get the Garrett?
The Nokta pointer that I just got is great design, providing the controls
at the end, rather than the side.
The side or the length of the probe is vulnerable to grit, sticking it your dig and holding it
with muddy glove..., and the two black Garrett probes I've had before, the button AND the LED
bulb gets more than their share of potentially damaging moisture and grit - the button wears out
and rubber shrinks, to allow bad things to happen...~!
The LED light on the Nokta has a clear, streamlined "window", to keep out the bad stuff.
Yeah, I'm very happy with this new probe!

Deteknix X-Pointer . I bought it after my Garrett started beeping all the time & it was just out of warranty. Very pleased with it.
