A few weeks ago I was on Vacation in Vergennes, Vt. I did a lot of detecting while home, but made the best discoveries in my parents front and back yard. The front yard yielded an 1847 Large cent and the back yard yielded this coin. I'm not sure what year this coin is, but it looks old. I've only been able to get any detail off the side you can see in the pictures. The other side is worn smooth. I'm sure the weight of the coin is off some. I imagine the coin is about 1/2 to 3/4 the original thickness. Anyway, I thought someone out there might recognize the bust on the front side of the coin and be able to give me an idea what this is. Sure wish I had a date, but I'll take a ballpark if someone can help. Thank you and Happy Hunting!!!
