The first plants to start turning fall colors here in SW Oregon is the poison oak. We have other trees turning now also, it's just that poison oak seems to start the trend.
Below is a bush that has just started turning color.

The next one is already loosing leaves. Doesn't mean anything if you are allergic to the stuff, just touching the dry sticks in the winter will break some people out.

Poison Oak isn't always a bush either, below the picture shows it is as a vine, climbing into a Douglas Fir tree.

Don't know if I am allergic or not. I used to get poison ivy every summer when I was a kid, so I probably am��
