I found this piece while walking the riverbanks near my house. Most of the banks are pure sand with little rock, so when I found it I though it looked promising. I think it's either pottery or a piece of clay piping. Any ideas? IMG_20150207_144604.jpg IMG_20150207_144627.jpg IMG_20150207_144642.jpg IMG_20150207_144654.jpg

I cant tell by the picture, but pottery is lighter than a rock would be. Next, tap it on your tooth (not real hard) you will know the difference. I`ve never hurt my teeth. Thats all my advice.

I can't tell either. It has a curve but I don't see anything with tempering but then again the later pottery was smoother. I'm not sure. Can you get a pic of the side that would be the outer side in daylight and wet it?

It does look like the same material as the old sewer and drainage pipes

Its either pottery or a piece of stone bowl. The stone bowls they used in my area was either brown or silver. By the shape that is what I would guess.
