MY BEST $1 EVER!. My best BUY ever.

About a year ago I found a book called "Sites of Maui." It was a acheological review of the island's culture, geography, and so on. I found it on a damp lawn for $1. Even with the damp lawn, it was in perfect condition. Put it up on Amazon, and it sold last night... $899.99! I wrote about it in another thread a long while ago, and decided to go for the long dime over the short nickle. Of course, Amazon took their $140. Then again, the best price on Ebay was $150.

Bought 5 for $5. Sold 3 for $300. I have a feeling they’re worth more but I couldn’t find anything on them. Even 2 antique jewelry sites couldn’t help.

Here's a few recent picks out of thrift stores:

Tim Horton's cup - paid .89 cents, sold for $19.99 + shipping

French champagne ashtray - paid .99 cents, sold for 19.99 + shipping

Pflatzgraff Yorktown plate - paid .99 cents, sold for $15.99 + shipping

Not much, but every little bit helps.

What is it and what does it do? ;>)

Bill

Never mind about answering.... It appears to be like those fancy choice items at a fancy restaurant that have no prices listed..... If you have to ask the price or what is it, you shouldn't be ordering it.....:tongue3: .

I found the word "Bencher" and learned they are a manufacturer of a fancy version of on old Morse Code key... (I was hoping it was some type of wave transmitter gizmo for 'mind control'....):tongue3::tongue3:

Hit the local thrift store....walked by and saw this....on a shelf loaded with knickknacks. Most precious moment stuff are junk....but the disney PMI ornaments aren't. Some with box are pricey on ebay. No box and I have it listed at about $65. Got her for a buck. Not bad for a donation trip (I dropped off some things I cannot sell or not worth the time from a storage locker I bought.) I'm not retiring but still cool. 1542117857824.jpeg 1542117948023.jpeg

Good to know. I'll have to remember that name.
Yeah right. Who'd of thunk it?

While I'm here, I bought a dozen Miami Dolphin ornaments from the Hamilton mint at a garage sale back in August for $1 each. I finally sold all of them, several weeks ago actually, and they sold for a total of $137. Here are a few, but not all pics...

Don't overlook VHS tapes. Most are worthless but there still is a market for them.

Sealed VHS Sesame Street episode: found in free pile at a yard sale, sold for $34 (Amazon).
Sealed VHS Back to the Future Trilogy: found in the trash, sold for $25 (Amazon).
Vintage mechanical pencil: free at the bottom of a box of other purchases, sold for $15 (eBay).
Susan B Anthony Dollar Coins: bought for $1 each from the bank, sold for $1.10 each (eBay).
Broken medical lift: found next to a dumpster, sold for $9 (scrap).
