I've seen some absolutely incredible points posted on here over the past years. Post your favorite artifact(s) from your collection. The ones that would almost bring you to tears if you came home and found them to be broken. The ones that your spouses are jealous of. ;D ;D

The 4 inch Adena I found when I was 10 years old. I was pretty proud of it back then and carried it around to show until my dad rescued it from me before I accidentally broke it. He gave it back to me later on after I started building a collection and kept them secured in a box in my room.

The smaller Adena I found about 3 years ago. Love the colors on it. It is very thin and well made.

Hope to see some of those awesome points again!

Great artifacts that everyone has posted. These are my favorite artifacts I've found since starting in September. There is still hope out there for great finds. The first pic is a 3" Flint Ridge Snyders knife that members of this board helped to id. The Snyders is considered a rare find for SWPA. The second pic is my best Early Archaic points. The one on the left is made of Kanawha flint, the others are un-ID'd material. All of these finds are from non-local material. Thanks to those who helped ID these finds from past posts.

Awesome artifacts everyone! It shows the diverse types of artifacts that are found. That water pouch is absolutely incredible! I couldn't imagine finding something like that!

Great stuff!

PS: Pickaway, did you build the snowman? ;D ;D :D :D

Some great points. Heres is just a few of my favorite finds. I really have to many to choose just one. The big wadlow is 8plus inches, and was neat to flip up out of the dirt. The plummets were also cool to find, and I have only found the one discoidal. I also like the big spade and it is the only spade I have ever found. The big snyder was a memorable find even though it has tip damage. The broken gorget is my biggest heart breaker so far, still looking for the other half. Good topic :icon_thumleft:

This would have to be my favorite. A Morrow Mountain scraper about 3 1/2" long. This artifact is my first find and kinda started it all.

Here ya go, I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but I bet you'll never see another quite like it. I found it at an exceedingly low tide a few winters ago at the confluence of Buffalo Bayou and Galveston Bay.
Apparantly the point that dates to the middens early years became exposed due to tidal movement, etc. This part if the midden is now under 3.5 foot of water at the mean tide level. Sometime after this happened an Oyster spat (larvae) settled on it and grew to maturity. Collected and eaten by some fisherman, a bunch of shucked oyster shells were laying about as I walked by. The north wind had lowered the water level making the oyster reef available and I saw a blackish piece of flint laying on the shells. I poked around and didn't see anything else except a few pottery shards and I flipped over one of the oyster shells, and there it was. I did flip over about a hundred more, but nothing else. I might note this is the bottem half of the oyster, so it all makes sense. enjoy, G.

These are a couple of my nicer ones. The Cobbs knife was found on a sand bar & my son found the other knife while we were hunting in a creek.
