No silver or gold but I found two items of interest today.

First, a copper prayer medal, Lord's Prayer (Our Father). Man those are some tiny letters and words. At first I thought it was part of a fishing lore spinner, but I managed to spot what I thought was writing.

Second, A two-piece button with an eagle and in the anchor, the back I can't read any writing and it has rust. I'm skeptical of this button being from the Civil War era even though I found and example on the web. Any help would be appreciated. Button measures 23 mm.

Sorry no junk photos today, thanks for looking and happy hunting.

The pin pointer shows how deep the button was

Here's the information I found from the Internet and photo, I believe the one I found would be the one on the right that is 23 mm:

2 different size Civil War era Antique Tunic Buttons in gilt * * Obverse: Eagle and anchor, with stars; Reverse: EXTRA QUALITY, with shank; one is unmarked, with holes * Diameter: 18 mm, 23 mmCondition: Very good, with minor surface rub

Congrats on the cool button,, looks real to me

Thanks ATW, thought the medallion might have been one of those flattened pennies but it's to perfectly made, not pressed in one of those souvenir crank machines.

I'm no expert (on buttons or civil war relics), but I have my doubts about the button on the right (with "holes") in the photo you found on the internet. That one looks like a modern button to me (based on the civil war design). The one you found looks legit IMO :icon_thumright:

Those are some nice finds. I'm with ATW. Your Lords Prayer medal looks like an elongated penny.

A fishing lure spinner? That's exactly what came to my mind when I looked at the photo! I'm no help with the button, but appreciate you sharing your finds!
