Pre 1900's silver and some early 1900's silver dug out of Los Angeles cash register

I can't believe it but I found my first silver coins finally!

So I found my first silver coins today. Went to an orchards hardware store and saw some unusual looking coins in the register so I asked the cashier lady if I could get the large coins as change. She happily obliged and told me "these are useless. Idk who wants metal money anymore." I always take anything people have in their register bigger than a quarter because I have heard of people being lucky in the past.

So I took my change and items I purchased and went out to the car...

Looked at the coins and holy crap. I actually made a profit in my purchase........

I got 3 silver half dollars, 1912, 1917, and 1939

And an 1896 silver dollar in what looks to be unbelievable shape.............

I am very happy with my find.

Are these coins worth anything? I'm probably going to wind up keeping them unless they are very valuable.

I've been coming here for a while. I've never even gotten a copper penny. And all of a sudden these gems show up.

Either folks are getting desperate or someone robbed grandma's mason jar. Nice score and I'd also be going back to inquire of any more "junk" silver. Keep them.

Now it's time to speculate as to why somebody would pay with such valuable currency...

I wonder if somebody purposely did it. I would be very shocked if said person didn't know. That silver dollar is collector quality and seems like somebody was trying to make somebody's day
