pre spring thought

looked at the thermometer it said -19 below
looked out the window to see all the snow
just another four feet to go
before the lawn starts to show
read the instruction four the fifth time in a row
check my back light to see how it glows

looked at the calender to see what month
last year this time I've dug all ready a bunch
the snow this year put us in a crunch
I like to give old man winter a super man punch

well soon in time
all be looking for silver quarters, and barber dimes
knowing that digging in some places can be a crime
knowing my white's finds the best of all the finds
engraves stellar finds in my mind

out of the corner of my eye I see the bright sun start to rise
the treasure this year has no ware to hide
I bought a new white's detector with great pride
built a test garden too test it out
heard the neighbor yell your in my yard get out
I shot him a look and gave him a hoot
and cover the last hole with my right boot

so to the park I dash
so my white's could uncover the deep stash
Indian head penny and barber dimes
all it takes is a little time

from top to bottom and over it a gain
my detector is becoming my knew best friend
the smell of spring fills the air
the sight of blossom are every ware

as the day comes to an end
It's time to say good night to my knew best friend
with one click off it goes
there will be no more digging no more filling holes

Hang on, that cold rock and copper country going to be warm enough by flag day,if you wear a coat.

it's 58 degrees out there now but can only scrape the surface it's frozen

48 degrees s.e. of you,then s.w. of central lower a ways.Frozen. A few old farmhouses high southern exposures show wisdom of their location by boasting open ground. Here in the woods nearly a couple feet of cover yet.Maybe tax day digging. Wait n see I guess.

Digging here in Ohio today. First time since the big freeze. Mostly prospecting for new sites. Some parts were still a bit froze. But, the parts with southern exposure are nice and soft.
