I dug this beauty up & was literally stunned at the condition. :o? Most have the date worn off that I've seen.

Love those standing libs. I think you have a little reflection on your posted picture and the actual detail is even better than the photo shows.

These are not easy to find in any condition. Nice work!

Re: Prettiest Quarter I've Dug So Far!!!

Yep, that is one good looking coin!!!
I found a 1928, and you can still read tha date fairly well, but it's nowheres near in that good of condition...
As you said, I think on most of them, the date is completely gone...
Congrats on a great find...

Re: Prettiest Quarter I've Dug So Far!!!

Ya must have found that in the ground next to the old mint building. Couldn't have gotten too far away from the mint to look like that.

Re: Prettiest Quarter I've Dug So Far!!!

Of all the coins to find, the SLQ is near the top of my favorites list. I have only found two so far. The ones you find where the date is worn off is most likely from 1916 to 1924, where the date was raised on the coin, allowing it to wear much faster. Due to this, in 1925 they recessed the date so it would not wear as quick.
