I only do this for silver. Will slightly circulated S proofs sale for a premium if they are in great shape?

I have tracked several auctions on ebay over the past few years and the answer appears to be, "occasionally." I have seen some bring a decent premium while others priced very similarly never receive a single bid. The biggest problem in trying to sell a single impaired (circulated) clad proof is that the entire non-impaired proof set can be bought very cheaply. I have no idea why someone would shell out a few bucks for an impaired proof when the entire set can be bought for just a few bucks more in most instances.
I traded a proof half for a silver dime at my LCS about a year ago. It never hurts to ask.
Was it a variety like a 1979 Type 1 (or 2) or a 1981 Type 1 (or 2)?
1979 Type 2 halves can go for between $.50-$25 ungraded (depending on who you ask).
I like to use them to fill holes in my dansco album, I actually prefer a slightly circulated coin. It's got a story to tell, a little history on it.
