I have just started to collect proof sets. I am mainly looking at them for investments. Thats why I thought pre 60 is best. Are proof sets good investments?

Thanks.

Do a little research and discover.

There are some proof sets that are very new that are VERY pricey.
Especially silver ones.

This year could be one of those years.
There are also a few years with mint marks that are different as well as years where the dates were large and small.

Things like this could make a lot of difference.

Word. Just look at how the 99 Silver Proof has turned out. I bought mine a few years back for $150 and thought I was getting the shaft now you need $500 + just to touch it.

How about the 1970 with a no S dime, or the 75 with the same no S dime.
The last time I actually saw one of the 75s it sold for over 40,000.

The 70 with a small date Cent is worth over a hundred dollars.
The 90 with a no S Cent is worth over 10 grand.
The 2001 silver set is worth almost as much as a 99.

The old ones are worth quite a bit but I wouldn't count out the new ones either.

Good luck in all your hunts.

If you're going to collect proof sets, I'd go with anything with silver, preferably pre-1960. And make sure you buy a set that's in top-notch quality.
