Either late April early May me and my wife will be taking our first Prospecting/Gem hunting vacation. We are planning to go to Hiddenite NC and Franklin NC. We will spend 3 or 4 days in each location. I know we are able to pan and sluice in the creeks in the National Frorests. The questions I have are:
1. What type of sluice do you recomend? I want something small enough to carry on a back pack but will be effective.
2. What type of hand tools do you recomend?
3. Clothing to bring for that time of year in the area?
4. Any specifics or recomendations on locations?
Any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We will be checking out a few of the gem mines in each of the area. We would rather hunt/dig for our own gems. I would much rather hunt for native gems than go through enriched buckets.
