I went back and checked out a site that has been detected quite a few times. It was an old clay mine from around 1890 here in central Pennsylvania. I was detecting around what I believe used to be the mines office. First I found the back of a lock. Then I thought It would be great to find the front of the lock too. Then I found a complete lock maybe 5 feet away! The hasp on the lock is free but locked and brass key hole cover on the back still moves and still has it's spring action. I have found these before but they are either froze up, smashed, or the hasp has been broken. I'm not crazy about finding shotgun hulls but here about a year ago I figured that if I started collecting them, I would stop finding them. So far that theory hasn't worked out to well for me...

That lock is awesome! Too bad your strategy isn't working on those hulls. :icon_jokercolor:

Beautiful lock, all I ever manage to dig are those Union 6-Lever's, nice to see a oldie!
