Hey guys! Well I am really excited about this one! I decided to go metal detecting this morning after two weeks of rain. It was a nice sunny saturday morning. I figured since all of the parks were going to be used by people then I would check out a local school. I went to an elementary/baseball/soccer field all rolled up into one. I thought this would be a great place to find some coins!

The finds were slow for the first 30 minutes. At my 4th or 5th target I got a mix silver tone that sounded like a nickle/dime. I dug down and was amazed at what was looking up at me! ;D I yelled to myself GOLD! I GOT GOLD! No one else was around and I was really excited! It was a ring also! I looked for markings and could see .999! Pure gold! :o I was like wow! I called my Minelab Dealer Dennis up after I told my folks about it. He said, "Yup. .999 is pure gold!" I am really excited!

The next hour went good as well. Dug a good amount of coins at the school. Mostly dimes. :icon_scratch: Kids sure like to loose dimes around issaquah. I am really happy! I sure did the happy dance all the way to my car!

From reading online .999 is worth LOTS of money! I'm not looking to sell it, but it was nice to know about it.

Here are the pictures! You can bet at work tonight that I am going to be bragging about this one! My hands are still shaking even when I type to you guys! I can't believe it! I cleaned up my SE as soon as I got it home. Being really carefull not to damage the console. It deserved a good clean up from all the dirt that was on it. The SE did good today and I am really looking forward to more gold rings/silver ring finds!

Here are the pictures! ENJOY!

Well guys! Today was the day to get it tested! Went to a jewler in issaquah! He said it IS PURE GOLD!!! I AM REALLY HAPPY! Its weight was 3.4 grams and since it was so small it was only worth $70!!!! :) Still good enough for me!

Wuw, I've never seen a".999" marking for gold. That would be 24 carat. Congrats, and what does the actual marking read?

Re: Pure .999 gold ring with the Explorer SE!!! I am really excited! :)

There's a good chance the ring came from Asia. They use a lot of 24K gold for jewelry and then as an investment in hard times if necessary. Are there any other markings on the inside of the band? Have you weighed it? If it weighs 7.5 grams, or is a multiple of 7.5, ie 15, it is most likely from Thailand. (15 grams = 1 Baht weight)
Great find!!

Re: Pure .999 gold ring with the Explorer SE!!! I am really excited! :)

I had a friend who brought back a pair of "pure" gold earrings for me from Vietnam back in the 60s war. They were hoops, about one inch. Only thing was, every time I touched them, they changed shape. Kinda like working with clay, they were so pure. Being the 20-year-old I was, I gave them to my niece because they were such a chore to wear and keep. I can understand the ring you found being so soft. Just purer gold. Maybe from the same timeframe. Thanks for sharing! -Noodle

I didn't know gold that pure was used in jewelry. Bet that was a heart stopper. I remember the last gold ring I found it was the first hole I dug that day. I just turned the detector off and drove home I knew continuing would have been all down hill that day. LOL
