Quartz, Crafts, & Quilts Festival

I took 'Scotto' to his first 'Rock Swap' today, it was in Mt. Ida AR, there were Quilts on display, food booths, Rock & Mineral
displays, & Craft displays.
I traded fossil ferns & petrified wood for a few nice AR crystals.
Scotto bought several minerals for his collection.
Met some 'dealers' & friends, Jay, has 'Jay's Crystal Bonanza', he has 'Gold panning', all kinds of Rocks & mineral in his store, he's located on the main drag in Mt. Ida.
Kenneth, (with purple Amethyst on display), makes little 'Gem trees' out of chips of minerals, & copper wire, his business is called' A Ouachita Mountain Rockhound Rockstop', he deals in AR Quartz, Amethyst, & other minerals.
If you ever get down this way 'look them up'.
We had a 'great day out, plus did a little 'exploring'.
'Scotto' is the man with the cane admiring the displays.
Some of the Minerals we traded for, Quartz, Copper & Crystal,
plus 'Labrodite'.

It's 'Labrodite', one of the prettiest minerals I have
seen.

Sure was a great time today. Fossis is a great friend and mentor, to help me learn the names of all of these rocks I brought home, and tell me what was a good deal or not. Now if only I could remember what the names of these rocks are..... ???

I could have dropped a few hundred bucks there today, easily, but I'm happy with what I brought home. Some of those dealers have you drooling over the specimens they have.

I was a big-time seashell collector in Florida, but not too much shelling to be done in Arkansas, so now I'm a rockhound. Having a great time doing it too, I'd rather be out there, finding this stuff with Fossis, having a good 'ol time in this beautiful country here.

Would like to see that polished up..great looking stone raw
Don

Actually, it is polished, my camera doesn't do it
justice. :-\
I think it ranks right up there with 'opal', & 'fire agate'.

Yeah, they are great, I usually just trade for 'Crystals'.
Rocks & Minerals, or more fossils.
