Very possible. The red in clay is a natural ferric ore. Enough iron in the silt they were formed from would make them "hot".

I haven't ran into to many bricks (especially the yellow ones :'( ) but concrete sure likes to hit hard on my detector so I'm sure the brick is the same principle.

Yes, they do. I hunted a field that had an old farmhouse and that is all I ever found was chunks of brick. Brick and concrete. I don't know what was in them, but they sure sounded good.
