I am sorry I didnt have time to research this as I am on my break from work. One of the posts before talked about collectable bills based on serial numbers with the four digets being the same. My question is that I found a 5 dollar bill with the serial number 00888840 does the 8888 make it collectable or is it just another ordinary 5 dollar bill? It is series 2001.

Thanks!

It was almost a radar note if it would've been 04888840.......yours can be labeled what they term "Fancy Serial Numbered/Numbers". They're not exactly radar, consecutive, binary, repeater or ladder notes, but interesting, and some people do buy them. I'd say a note like this would get the most if it were in uncirculated condition. The note you describe could possibly be termed a near binary note....it's one number too many though. here's a quick link for you.......
