I met a fellow that insisted metal detectors will not pick up stainless steel screws ( or anything stainless). I showed him that my AT pro would indeed signal on a stainless steel screw. He says he needs a detector to find stainless steel screws and washers? I am wondering if the Tesoro Compadre will work for that. I am sure it will. It is a great little machine I think. I can't see him getting an AT pro when a Compadre will do it. Strange request I know.

No need, My friend brought his daughter over with her Compadre and it rang up loud and clear. I thought it would Do not know where he got the idea that stainless does not ring up on any metal detector?

I’ve used about all modern ones but right now: CTX 3030, White’s MXT Pro, XP Deus, Vaquero, White’s TRX

Stainless steel isn't a problem for a detector to "see". A magnet will not stick to stainless steel unless there is ferrous properties to it.

Your friend isn't entirely wrong, it all depends on the alloy of the stainless. Some of it can be detected, some of it not. It can also depend on the detector; an alloy that isn't detected by one model might get detected by a different model.

I am pretty certain that screws and washers are cheaper than a metal detector..:dontknow:Maybe I am missing something.
