Question about troop river crossings

I found an area where troops had crossed on pontoon bridges over a river through some forest on other side. Roughly at different dates 3 different corps crossed in same area. Not sure if they camped at that vicinity . What are the odds they dropped or left things behind? Also there is a possible ghost town from my research and map comparisons little further in the woods in same area .I’m thinking about throughly hitting this place along the river this weekend. Any advice or tips would be appreciated
