I liver near where there used to be a Civil War training camp.
Cuyahoga Falls? Civil War Camp Foster ? Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society
This week I found my first 3 ringer.

I also found a civilian flat button

A week ago I found a musketball.

A few weeks ago an 1865 2 cent piece and an 1866 3 cent piece.
All of these in the same field and across town from where the camp was. Walking distance though back in the day.
Both bullets look fired.
The coins match the era.
The civilian button I have read could have been a replacement button on a uniform.
Now I know there weren't civil war scurmages in my area but there was evidence of soldiers.
I am trying to paint a picture or possible link at least the 3 ringer to have been fired by a soldier not necessarily in battle but target practice or hunting game, or even a further stretch as the button and coins lost by a soldier. That would be cool you have to admit.
Am I far off from this theory?
It doesn't seem to far fetched, does it?

All training camps had firing ranges and if it was a camp soldiers lost things, personally I think your theory is sound.

Sounds like you might be onto a good site there. Hunt low and slow. Best of luck to you.

Very Cool Historic finds , I do wonder about the 'Musket Ball tho' you got more info on that one ?

The 2 & 3 cent pieces are on my 'To Find before the Big Gig in the Sky' or G.I.S. List.

I wish I had more info on that musketball. I was trying to find out the caliper. I need to get one of those tools.
I looks fired due to a dent on one side. It has a very detailed mold mark on it and a seam that goes around it.
Thanks for looking
