Hey all, I have some ?'s about the proper way to store coins. First off are those little white cardboard staple shut holders ( flips? or are those the softer vinyl pocket type ones?) safe for long term storage? and for that matter whats considered long term? It seems I remember being told numerous times that the staple shut ones are not good for long term use, I think they used to be made with something that turned coins green, but I thought that was some time ago and was no longer an issue, so what do you all think? And also what do you think about the plastic tubes with the screw tops? are they good for storage? please let me know your thoughts on this, thanks much.

Chuck.

Stay away from the vinyl. They are what will turn the coins green. The flips are safe and economical, but not meant for long term storage. What you want are the flips with Mylar. They will be sold under the trade name of Saf-T-Flips.
