I've been considering MDing some railroads (when we get some rain to soften the ground) and creeks near my town. What is the law on detecting these areas? These pass through private property. Are people allowed to walk them? How much of the land on each side of the tracks/creek are considered public land, if any? Do I need permission from anyone?

Thanks,

OO

Railroad right a ways are private property. No metal without permission.

As for as the creaks go, you will have to look up what the law is about the right a way on creaks and rivers.

I know in Texas the river/creak has to be navigable for it to be public and only then to the high water mark.
