Just after 8 a.m. Monday, 12-year-old Mitchell Hornberger, Ringtown, spotted a seven-point buck in the crosshairs of the scope on his bolt-action rifle.

"First one I saw all day. They weren't all spooked yet from everybody shooting around. Walked right up to us," said Mitchell, who was hunting in Union Township.

He took aim at the deer, which was 50 yards away, and with a pull of the trigger, he took it down.
