Of all the knives I do not own , Mora are among them.
Good knives though....
The Garberg I like for being full tang , and for being carbon steel vs stainless. (Not insulting Mora stainless blades , I'm just a fan of old carbon. Mainly for sharpening purposes).

-

I have (also) the Garberg! Easy to sharpen as same as carbon. For me it makes no difference. It is a real good knife like all other Mora I have.

I use the Fällkniven CC4 to hold the knifes sharp. (The white ceramics side). My buddy always makes a new cut and grind material down. His knifes has lost 2 mm now on the blades and mine are like new :laughing7:

For every day work I can honestly recommend the classic folding Opinel carbon knifes! They are cheap but the quality is outstanding and you can modify them in crazy ways (see YT videos.

I use my every day for cooking and it makes fun to cut everything with them.

As I told before, I have spent the last 25+ years so much money into knifes because I didn´t know Mora and Opinel or the Dave Canterbury knifes before. No need to spent hundreds of $ !

The last expensive ones I will buy are two that Dave forges himself for me this spring (one for me and one for my buddy). This will be the last in my life :icon_thumright:

Pic:

5$ Mora for every day work
Garberg for heavy wood work etc, but NOT for this "batoning" B/S! ----- A knife is a knife and NOT an axe!
Light my fire (only for fishing, skinning etc.) I love this shape of the blade!
Buck neck knife, made razor sharp for smaller cutting tasks

So I have 5 knifes include the Opinel in/on my backpack! One is none! (survival rule N# 1 :laughing7:) + a Hultafors hand forged trekking axe :icon_thumright:

Hoo boy!
For a smaller blade (without going thick on it) , 60 would be alright. A bit hard for using the wrong tool for a pry bar..... And a harder edge takes longer to sharpen when not touched up often enough , depending on what it is being used for.

Nothing less fun than working a chip out of a blade. (I hide certain knives to avoid them getting abused in the kitchen.)

I could live with 30. But actual hardness matters more than an assigned number as a goal...

(Not trying to read like I'm that choosy really:laughing7:.)

-

Mora knifes has a HRC of 57-58. Hard enough for me :headbang:

If I need more, I soak the blades for half an hour in a mixture of this nice blue pills :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

Especially on the carbon blades it gives also a nice "patina" :laughing7:

diggummup,

Don't really know what to say other than you have my sincere condolences. Not easy loosing a loved one especially a spouse here's wishing you the best getting through this trying time.

Here's a mood changer. My wife just passed away 2 weeks ago on the 5th. of January. Found out she had a mass on her liver in August. Doctors told us in November that there was nothing they could do but make her comfortable. I have been at home taking care of her since then (and before). That's why I haven't been active lately. We were together almost 20 years and neither of us drank. She was my rock. She was my best friend. Just got back from Ga., was visiting family. Sitting alone in an empty house calling your wife's name when you know she won't answer is heartbreaking. I am lost right now. :(

Ok ok... From now on... so we all know when and if someone has put a "guess what is it"... start the post simply by saying "guess what"... without the quotation marks.

So...

Start the post with simple....

Guess what...

(picture)

------------- OR

(picture)

Guess what- under pic.

-------------------

Choice is yours :P

That way it is simple "heads up".
