This was identified by TheCannonballGuy
. Thanks to him I now not only know what this is but I also learned a history lesson about Confederate Bormann fuzes. This was the underplug for a Confederate Bormann fuze. In 1863 the South stopped manufacturing their version of the Bormann fuze due to problems. The existing Bormann fuzes were drilled into so they could put a paper fuze in. My fuze piece is a very scarce underplug from a modified Bormann fuze. Thanks for looking and HH!

Awesome find! Sounds pretty rare. All you need to do now is find the other half of the cannon

If the Cannon Ball Guy says it's rare then it must really be rare. That guy knows his stuff! Congratulations on a wonderful find.

Yes he does! He is a very big help when it comes to anything to do with artillery.

I have never seen one of those drilled CS Boreman's and didn't know that the Rebs did that. I did find a CS Boreman on the Port Republic battlefield, but that was an 1862 battle, I guess before they started drilling them.

Thanks y'all. I didn't know that the confederate drilled them either until TheCannonballGuy chimed in! He's a great help.
