This afternoon I hunted a couple foundation sites my very first target was the lock from Barnes manufacturing company 1879. http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-1879-Barne...ck-1-/160436620309?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_Default. After that Didn't find anything but shot gun shells for the next hour or so. Then I got a iffy signal from one direction you could here there was iron from the other a nice high tone so I dug an out popped the silver piece. At first I didn't think it was silver but it had to much weight to be aluminum I showed it to dano and he said it was silver for sure. I got it home tested it and its silver for sure I also noticed a design on it that kinda looks like a hammer to an old flint lock or something. Could the silver piece be a flash pan cover to an old flint lock or something similar? Thanks for looking and HH.

I found a good luck horshoe lock a few month back but mine was missing the locking arm. They stop making them in the early 1900s good find.

Wouls you be able to put a coin against the silver object for dimensional purposes? Just trying to guess out what the object may be. Thanks!

Thank you. Just trying to picture the piece undistorted. Now I knowit is a pretty small piece. If I come up with any wild ideas i will pass them on.
