Someone posted this on the PCGS coin forums a couple days ago (said he saw it on another detecting site). Absolutely amazing find - 8/7! Something we all dream of.

Is your friend going to get it conserved and slabbed?

Yes this coin will be graded and slabbed by PCGS. There is a small scratch on the reverse that was not put there by the detectorist. The coin will be sold as well as soon as it's graded. It was found under an 80 year old sidewalk so I doubt it's counterfeit. I'm glad I saw it before it was just thrown in to his collection. The finder knows nothing about coins of this nature.

That is the best (non Spanish) silver coin find i've ever seen found in this state. Was the construction site near a downtown area?

Yes this coin was found in a downtown area but not Orlando.
The site is now finished now unfortunately.
Best I could do was a 1867 shield nickel, 1883 V nickel and some others.

Holy Cow that is incredible. Awesome find for him. It would make the Banner for sure but I think the Mods won't accept it since he is not a member. But still, Wow....great find. I think he should split the rewards after the sale, or a nice steak dinner at the very least! Congrats to both of you!! jgas
