So, out we go hunting, at 4am, at a very popular beach in a classy area. I switch on my headlamp and detector( Bounty Hunter quick draw II) and move onto the cool sand. I know its not the best machine out there, but ,man, oh man, this think loves sniffing out coins.
So I start a-swinging and prolly 5 mins into the hunt, i hit a signal at 6 inches. Hmmmm, OK, nice dry sand, close to the volley ball area. Let's dig it, and i dig (by hand), scoop and spread, scoop and spread, and "low and behold", i get the thumps from deep in my chest.

"Holy Mackrell", if this thing is real i can finally get that Excalibur II I have been dreaming (and hounding the wife) about.

pics are'nt the best quality tho :-\

I did some "tests" i got off the 'net, out of curiosity. Most pass as a real diamond.

will post more once i have it tested at a reputable jewler.
hope i get to sleep tonite.

Unfortunately, I'm with Deb on this one... fake.
They won't put a real diamond in a cheap setting like that one.
Sorry man. :-\

Bran <><

I'm with everybody on this...
they don't put diamonds in copper ring settings..

but I bet it was fun to dig...

What really gets you excited is when you find a freshly dropped ring with a plated setting, and a rock like that, then take a closer look!! Can definitly be an adrenaline killer!

Sorry But like every one said the ring it's self is cheap metal and they would not put a real diamond on it................................. FAKE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I found one fake real ring long ago. It was a very real 14KT setting with a paste diamond. That one got me goin' for a bit, but after a good look at the stone, I knew.

Yes i have seen a lot of fake stones in a real 14 K ring but never a real stone in a cheap metal ring.

Yep, fake she is.

But a very thrilling adventure ;D. its only my second ring find, the first being a mens solid silver band.
Found a silver chain with locket on the same day as the silver ring. So not to bad for about 5 outings.

Thanks for all the replies :headbang:

We were all newbies once upon a time, I have yet to find a gold anything. :-[ but I'm not discouraged, I love finding relics and it's the pure joy of finding something no matter what it is.

I love the locket & chain...great find
