I guess I didn't know pirates used metal chests to bury their gold and silver. Well not theirs
really but . . . I saw them on "Black Sails" using wooden chests so I guess they didn't do
due diligence writing the script. What do I know? I'm not a pirate although I found it
amazing you worked for the "Mel". That would mean you actually knew Ovid the man who
dowsed locations at sea fro "Mel" to explore. Small world.

"treasure" / "money" ...
Was carried in all types of "chests"... both wooden and metal.

Depends on the owner and the manner in which they chose to carry their loot.

Here is an example of a smaller sized metal "treasure / money chest".

AARC, great stories and comments. Thanks.

lol this thread was one of my first threads ever posted on Tnet. heh

Looking back... I can tell. :P...
The rust of my "slack" years of online typing shows.

This "story" and picture were meant for this site. :)

When I took the picture I thought... "this is definitely a Tnet picture / story"...
Even though I was not even a member when the picture was taken.

Also had to make a few corrections beings I have forgotten all about this thread and have not looked at it again since errr ?

Ovid ? no.
Moe yes.

Um btw... wood was not an "ideal" means for carry / transfer of large amounts of gold and silver over and over... due to stresses from the weight.
For shipment was ok.
But for permanent "wallet" many opted for steel.

Ok...
In all fairness...

I have included both wood and iron strongboxes... which is what they were actually called.

These are just a few examples of common styles for the most part.
There are far me exquisite ones out there.

NEXT POST ARE PICS-
