Today I was swinging my coil through some weeds and ivy and got a good signal at 5 inches. Digging down I recovered something I had never seen before ? It's a Foldgers Coffee Detective Black & Blue Badge?
It's about 2 inches long. I'm going to do some research on this, my guess is that it's a TV or radio promotional from the 1950's or 60's? I spent 3 hours in this area and only managed a wheatie and about $3.00 + in clad.

I then drove about 4 miles to another location that I had hunted about 2 dozen times in the past and dug out 2 more mercury dimes and 5 more wheat pennies. So far in this median strip I've dug out almost 40 silver coins on my many visits there.

I found this info about the badge online....

“From the March 31 issue of Gemstone Publishing's The Scoop:

Ever wonder where the buddy-cop-comedy genre came from? It didn't begin with shows like Car 54, Where Are You?. It dates all the way back to 1932, when Los Angeles radio station KHJ first aired Adventures of Detectives Black and Blue.

The syndicated show followed the exploits of Jim Black and his partner, Frank Blue. Black and Blue began as shipping clerks from Duluth with daydreams of bringing down bad guys. Of course, neither had any law enforcement knowledge. But all that was remedied when they decided to take a correspondence course to earn their "Detectives degree."

As you may imagine, hilarity ensued.

Even with their official degrees, born sleuths these two weren't. The radio schtick focused on their bumbling and botching, but each episode ended happily, as they captured criminals in comical capers.

The show lasted for two years, thanks to sponsors Iodent toothpaste and Folger's coffee. Each sponsor released brass Detectives Black and Blue badges in the show's inaugural year. Iodent also released a fabric double-billed detective's cap (checkered and printed with Iodent and the radio show title on the front bill).”

Great day CHF. I like that Folger's badge, and it's always good to see silver.

Nicely done on some great finds! It’s funny how those dimes can continue to elude us in spots we’ve already hit before.

There must be a thousand gopher holes in this median, these little critters turn up the ground like a plow. Just wait a couple of years and return to hunt it again and find the older coins that gophers bring up.

Very nice snag on the old Folger's pin! Those types of items trump a Merc or Rosie Dime any day in my book.

Awesome job as always, Mike! That's the median I was referencing in your last post.

Don't know if you've tried this area yet, but there's a neighborhood to the northeast
of that median (starting above "O" Ave. roughly between "CS" Elementary School & "A" Middle School and
continuing north up to "P" Drive) that was built between the 1910's and 1920's. Lots of wide curb strips,
a couple of small park medians with roundabouts in between houses, etc. The main road ("SFB") into the oldest
section of houses ends at a large fountain, bookended by two wide medians and a park. Sure to be lots of
untapped silver and other goodies.

The only downside is it's probably HOA, and with it being a wealthy area, you probably won't last long
before some NIMBY gets you booted...but possibly worth a shot.
