about halfway down the old horse path headed southeast approximately 1 mile from where it starts on my property, I was kind of just walking and sweeping when my bounty hunter let off the highest loudest tone I have heard yet, about 5 inches down I found this coin or maybe token, It looks like it say Massachusetts but its spelled wrong and I'm pretty sure it says 1622 but I don't think that's the date, could this be a coin or token or something? it is about 28 mm but not round and weighs 4.79 grams
I made another post with them washed off as best could

A modern "cast" fake. I'm not sure how long they're been making these... maybe 1960s to present.

Iron Patch hit the nail on the head. It's a fake, reproduction or whatever you want to call it. They made them during the bicentennial and they were sold on cardboard displays along with other copies. They were very poor quality. Some of the other coins include a 1787 Connecticut Small Head variety, Brasher doubloon, Blake and company $20 gold piece, New Hampshire copper and an assortment of odds and ends. They still make variations of them today and yours could be one of the newer copies. If you want to buy one like yours go to: https://www.rainbowresource.com/proddtl.php?id=012529&subject=History%2FGeography/14&category=Historical+Replica+Coin+Sets/4221

I found a coin similar years back and believe it's a reproduction probably from more recent times. Mine come out of the hole in two pieces so anyhow I did some research and had help from others to find that these three type of coins being the Oak, Pine and rarest is the Willow Shillings were counterfeited from I believe early 1800's through the 1970's and in all dozens of times for different reasons and the most recent ones as novelty items. I think earlier ones would be more collectable than the later ones but still a fun and interesting find and I still have mine.

Not sure if yours has the word copy on it or not but not all did I guess as I found out. The one I found was similar to a Willow tree but had variations and did not really resemble any known type.

If you want you can also check the diameter and weight for verification.

Hope this helps.

There is absolutely no need to have it looked at, as previously stated it is a modern reproduction. You won't find anyone more knowledgeable than ironpatch or Don in Brewster on Colonial coins. I have also been collecting colonials for well over forty years and there is no question that it is a copy. Copies like this have been pumped out by the thousands for sale at souvenir stands in historic sites for decades. Once you know what to look for there is no way to mistake one of these cast replicas for a real coin.

That last pic is a dead giveaway. It's much too thick to be a genuine Mass silver. Hope you find a real one some day. They are an incredible piece of history
