about halfway down the old horse path headed southeast approximately 1 mile from where it starts on my property, I was kind of just walking and sweeping when my bounty hunter let off the highest loudest tone I have heard yet, about 5 inches down I found this coin or maybe token, It looks like it say Massachusetts but its spelled wrong and I'm pretty sure it says 1622 but I don't think that's the date, could this be a coin or token or something? it is about 28 mm but not round and weighs 4.79 grams
I made another post with them washed off as best could

It looks like a pine tree shilling but maybe a replica coin. Something looks off with the patina. If it is real then its a hell of a find. Either way it will get a lot of attention on this site so get ready for it. Congrats.

Whoa!!! I'll try to get better pictures with a better camera and light

Awaiting word from those who know more than me. If real than a heck of a find and proof that you dont need a $$$$ detector

Agree with NY. it does look off. You don't need an expensive detector to find nice stuff. Just leaves the hard to get to[emoji106]

so its a reproduction of some sort? is it counterfeit? or just a fake? what should I be looking for detail wise etc..?

good question one too would like to know. i'm google searching but they all kind of look the same

A modern "cast" fake. I'm not sure how long they've been making these... maybe 1960s to present.

good idea I'm till kinda learning how the website works I'm not to techy.
Together it consists of roughly 2 miles squared with access to all bordering lands we've been here a long time and its a small rural place

In the 1970s congress made it illegal to produce copies without having the word COPY permanently made onto the coin. Yours may be a tad bit older of a copy or one from an unscrupulous maker after the law was passed.

Take it to a reputable coin dealer, they'll know for sure.

Never heard of someone tossing a reproduction Pine Tree shilling in a field. Take it to a professional coin expert to see if he/she can determine if it's genuine. If it's real you can forget about what everyone on T-Net is saying becasue you have alot of money coming your way if that's a real Pine Tree Shilling! You must forgive everyone's skepticism, becasue that is one of the rarest coins you can ever hope to find in the continental USA!
