Purchased this yesterday at an antique store on North shore of PEI, It spoke to me... I payed 250$ that i dont even have.
I have already researched it a bit , but...
? Do Rebekahs have swords?
I think its very likely, from my research that in the 1860's they got all the same jewels and offices.
? What rank was this individual?

The name. M.C. Barbour.
George Hilton Barbour. A significant Pei individual 1874-1963
Who studied him self in Boston Mass. "For upgraded education".
Well his Mother Mary Eliza Currie;-maiden name..., Mary Currie Barbour, Married name. ,
M.C. Barbour.
She fits the time frame for IOOF Rebekahs at the start.

What does everybody think?
What can anyone tell me that i may have missed?
Thank you

The crooks are crossed lower rather than higher. I think the location the crooks are crossed could further distinguish it as beign a rebekah's sword.

This sword is a rare .
And to a collector with a market full of cheapy rusty commons. I am shure they realize how rare this is. .and only one fraternal sword collector can have it...

There are an innumerable amount of people on this forum who have a great knowledge and are willing to share it. Many times I have been surprised and impressed by the caliber of knowledge here. I have also found, from personal experience, that a slice of humble pie can taste delicious!

Originaly antique dealer wanted 269.+ tax
I negotiated a little got it for 218+ tax, so was 250 canadian. I am happy with the price. The odd fellow swords are in this price range. But none i see as nice as mine . or with the chains. Or my favorite part of all the crossed crooks
Double the heka. Double the magic invocation :)

I have emailed the head of the local atlantic lodges in Nova Scotia to try and get info on M.C. Barbour.
I intend to speak with some pei historians aswell. And track down a local odd fellow in person.

I think not!

'Wm.' (with a small 'm') was a standard abbreviation for 'William' in those times. Nothing to do with Worshipful Master which, if ever used as an abbreviation, would be 'W.M.' (with a capital 'M').

I don't see a connection between 'M.C. Barbour' and 'Wm. C. Barbour'.

Keep trying.

You are trying way too hard to find some deep meaning in this.

Thanks for the info, i do think my last post was wrong. And the individual from quinsigamond is not the proper owner of the sword.
Wm. C. Barbour. Is different from M .C. Barbour.

Plus the date of 1846 would be to early , for my suspectected Mary Currie.
