Looks silver. I was unaware of their existence. It's a 2011 S Olympic Quarter.

The only way it would be silver is if someone cracked open a proof set and spent the coins. I imagine kids probably do that sometimes. I found a quarter the other day where just GW's head and the design on the back were gold plated. It was a state quarter. I can't really tell from the pics if yours is silver. I always check my change as well. You never know what'll turn up.

Looking at the side, it looks like every silver coin I've ever seen. I'm thinking someone did crack open a silver proof set.

It looks to be from the "America the Beautiful" series. It being the " Olympic National Park" quarter. 1,267,361 CLAD were minted, and 722,076 SILVER quarters were minted. Looks like you somehow received a "Silver" one in change. Very cool! Could very well be just as Evolution, Jeremiah and GaRebel said, someone cracked a set open, and spent it!

If you drop it on the granite countertop and it makes that ringing sound, then some kid certainly spent the proof set granny gave him for Christmas! Lucky you.

Congrats on the silver save! I'm sure somebody broke open a mint set. If it's an S mintmark, its silver!

Good eye! I usually hear the different sound it makes when it hits the clad. It stands out a lot. It’s happend to me numerous times in the past but not with a newer silver coin like yours.

Thanx for sharing.
