All need some help. I have attached a 1943 steel penny I recently received in the mail. I do have a 1943 D but this one is a little different and I cannot find anything stating as such. On the front of the penny left bottom reads VDB. I know this is quite valuable for the 1909 but what about a 1943. Any help would be appreciated.

Will try to get better photos but can't get to a photo proofer right now. Thanks

The VDB was moved there on all cents since 1918

Oh darn this is just for ones without mint mark right? The 1943 D does not have the VDB. Thought I had something worth a value. Oh there goes my hopes.

They all have the VDB regardless of mintmark ,on your D mintmarked coin it may not have struck up well.

It might have been replayed it but to be honest with you it looks too good of a strike. Is it possible it's a proof.

No known proofs were produced in 1943. It was likely polished at some point, which makes it worthless to Numismatic collectors. :'(

in 1909 VDB was placed on the back under the wheats

in 1918

VDB was placed under the shoulder of Lincoln

& remains there today. Not unusual it's
the initials of the designer
Victor David Brenner

Somedays it just feels gloom and doom on finds everything from being polished to loosing value. It is nice to think I had a good find. At least it's steel.
