I recently did some quick recon hunts on several new sites I'm going to hit as soon as we get some rain. After a very wet summer, the Shenandoah Valley is VERY dry right now. Most of the fields are like concrete. But all of the sites show promise. Here's a sampling of some of the finds - an early 19th century flat button, a 1917 Mercury dime, and another 19th century sash buckle. Video coming at some point. Thanks for taking a look.

We need rain here too Richard. That sash buckle site may lead to a CSA veteran's home site. Looking forward to your video. HH, Q.

Hey Quindy. Actually, one of these sites was a former Confederate veteran's home. We're supposed to get a good soakin' Monday!

Richard, nice haul for the bone dry Virginia dirt. Man it is very dry here too but rain is in site on Monday night into Tuesday morning. Should help some with the targets but we are down 3.5 inches right now. Temps look good next week, low 70's strong NE breeze.

You definitely have to get back there as many times as you can! Understand the dry...we're bone dry here in Northeastern Ky. also..hard to dig a nice plug, the dirt just crumbles.

Yeah, I can't wait to get out next week - hopefully by Thur, Fri.
