Hi all. Chris and I decided to venture north again in search of some permissions. We met some very nice people and talked with an old friend of Chris's that was good enough to let us hunt on his old property again. Today was coin day for Chris and relics for me. Nothing really old but a couple cool finds for me ~ my first watch winder and the face of an old padlock that still has it's hole cover. Chris kept saying he felt bad because I didn't find any coins older than wheats, but hey, as Brad and Mr. Knopfler says " Somedays you're the bug, Somedays you're the windshield ". Thanks for looking.

A good day OD. Was the keyhole cover marked? HH, Q.

All I can see right now Mr. Q. Is " Patent ". It has been soaking in mineral oil overnight because it is frozen shut from rust from the body. I will take it out in a bit and see if I can free it and examine it with a loupe. Too bad it is just the face and hole cover. Looks to have some age.

Good job OD! I like the watch winder.

That was gracious of you to let the young man have a day in the sun. I see what you are doing, lulling him into complacency, before you bring down the hammer. Very crafty my brother. GL&HH.

Lol, Tom. Chris was the crafty one. He pulled one of your tricks on me like you do Smittyman. Our first permission was owned by a very nice little old Italian fellow that seemed interested in the hobby. Chris knows I have a soft spot for our elders and continued on hunting while I stood and talked to him.

No, not rude...just crafty like Tom when he tells the kids that Smittyman is giving away candy lol. Besides, the old fellow could have had us whacked. Don't you watch The Sopranos? Lol. The trunk of that Caddy would have held us both! Didn't he say something about there being a body in the back?

All the chatter I heard on my ATP was probably buckshot from the bodies and gold teeth!

Is that a pocket watch in there? I bet that gave a really solid signal.

Here are some markings on the inside of the back of the watch. Hope someone can identify any info.

Hey, finding a watch winder is definitely on my wishlist, that's a great find Dave!

Anytime you're able to hunt an old property, you never know what might turn up. :icon_scratch:

Dave

Thanks you 2. CG, you and hubby keep your heads low with the storms!
Dave, thanks much. I hope you and our other Canadian friends are able to get out really soon if you aren't yet.
Here's a pic. Not an ornate one, but as my first, I am happy.
