i was looking at an 1872 map of my town (founded in 1711), and i noticed some sort of dwelling in area where i know there is no structure. it is a wooded area alongside the original road of my town's settlement. i took a walk to the woods this afternoon to hunt for this spot and came across what looks to be a foundation of cinder blocks covered in moss. i will be going back tomorrow with my metal detector but i was wondering if anyone knew around when cinder blocks were used as a foundation as opposed to stone. also, i've been told that if a stone/brick/block has moss on it then it's usually pretty old. any truth to this? ill be sure to post tomorrow's findings as this spot!
thanks!
