If you put the worn buffalo in salt and vinegar, it should start showing a date, or if you are an avid nickel hunter (like myself) you could invest in a bottle of Nic-a-Date, which helps show the date on it (I've found lots of goodies with that and filled holes in my buffalo album with it).

Nice finds!

the worn nickel is REALLY worn. it was the first one i found, which was felt great, but i really doubt any date would be able to be revealed with it. however, i will give it a try when i get some time here! i will be sure to let you know what i find out (if anything)

You still might get something!

But even if you plan on hunting nickels more, I would invest the $7-8 bucks into some Nic-a-Date. Been hunting for over a year and haven't used up a whole bottle of it.

Good results all around! I've been searching more nickels lately and have enjoyed the finds. Also, I try to search $50 a week in cents.
