I wanted a slight change of scenery and decided to work towards my goal of 1800 50+ year old nickels this year. I ordered 3 boxes of nickels ($300) and picked up $20 elsewhere. My first box was decent, yielding a 1927 Buffalo nickel (which I had never found in circulation before) and a 1943P war nickel, as well as a foreign coin that I can't identify. Anybody know what it is? My guess is Thailand but not quite sure.
Second box was decent, nothing older than 1938, no foreign, no war nickels. Best one here was a 1955.
The third box gave me a VERY nice treat, one that I'd been looking for for over a decade! I FINALLY got a 1938S Jefferson, this is the second to last nickel I need to complete my Jefferson nickel set since I started it back in high school in like 1996. All that is left is a 39D now. That box also had a 1943P and a 1945D, as well as a couple canadians that I kept (72 and 74).
The $20 loose was 8 rolls of handrolled and 2 machine rolled. Each of the 8 handrolled had 41 nickels in them, so I made $.40 there. Cool.
Total for the day was:
1927 Buff
1938 (2)
1938S

Also pictured is my collection of circulation-only Buffalo nickels. I'm up to 18 different nickels, now, with this 1927.
