It is my objective to find at least one penny every day. That has been my motto for years.
I almost always do too....customers driveways, convenience stores, coinstars, even a road kill dime....if I see it, it's mine.
I noticed two cents along the edge of a walkway/thin mulch landscape....
Of all places, a fire station in the middle of a residential neighborhood....not more than 20 yrs old.
One cent was a Union Shield zincoln, already toasted...the other one had a bit more character....

Holy Crap!

1880 Indian Head!:headbang:

It's got an edge to it, my theory is a fellow found it in a coinstar reject tray, then subsequently lost it.

It's the oldest coin I've ever found without detecting.... Awesome.

I only once found an Indian by "eyeball" myself. It was on the top of a mountain in New Mexico, of all places. I believe it was dated 1902, and it was fairly toasted. I ran back to my car and grabbed my machine and hunted the area for an hour, and I found absolutely nothing else. Who needs a detector? Good job spotting the 1880 without using a machine!
