I dropped by an older elementary school on Sunday afternoon. Didn't find much to brag on except this ring.

It is marked inside, "HAN" and "825". The 825 I think indicates a European silver mark. Don't know if the HAN is a maker or perhaps the owners initials.

Other than taking it to a jeweler is there a way to tell if the stones are diamonds or not?

cool find, I am not sure where you would get one but i have heard members in the past talk about a diamond detector that would tell if they are real or not, but I am not sure if they exist or not I've personally never seen one. thanks for sharing and hh

One successful way I have picked up, it to get a piece of toilet paper and wet it a little. Then put that over the stones. If you see brown dots in the light, its real diamonds!!! Hope I helped!

Now that is interesting. I'll give it a shot. I'll have to round up a real diamond to compare result to.
Thanks!
