I took the kayak out to few beaches I have permission to hunt down the river from me and found a few decent ones. This spot has produced some nice archaic points in the past. I found this bigger one I'm not sure of the type of anybody knows please comment. Is that what they call a Chesapeake Diamond? Or big ole Morrow Mountain. Looks like you had a great day!

I was looking at the Morrow mountain as a possibility but I didn't see any with that same base ..... Also the rounded almost flute was throwing me off....., I'm not sure of the material either Iv have only ever found one other point made from the same material .... It it was on the same beach here's a pic of it

That base is throwing me off - not sure if intentional or if percussion created that flute like impression and cracked into base. Is the material argillite? Examples I have seen in upper Chesapeake usually darker. Whatever cool find. On the western shore I am struggling with no til and the limited shore access.

Nice range of materials they were made out of. The orangeish yelllow is Vera Cruz jasper from Pennsylvania, west of Philadelphia. Natives mined it there for millenium. Black flint from Delaware, a lot of if comes down the Delaware river out of Pennsylvania. Rhyolite is from Cecil Co. MD or Lancaster Co, PA. BIT rhyloite deposits are along the Susquehanna River in places. The red jasper is also Vera Cruz Jasper. Great finds.

Not a bad day at all. Like that big grey quartz piece, so close, and yes that red Levanna has nice flaking. Hunting on a beach would be fun.

I agree with what has already been offered. I think the first large point is made of banded rhyolite from out near the Frederick, MD area, and up into PA. I think the large flute like scar is probably something they just worked around, to make a point out of the flake of material that they had. I do believe it could be called a Morrow Mountain, or the Chesapeake Diamond variant. The large grey quartzite point and the other similar I would call Poplar Island points. You had a good hunt, and found a nice variety of materials. I love that grey quartzite. HH
